Huỳnh Minh-ha took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Phan Hoa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 4 minutes into the match, Phan Hoa notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Tay Ninh's Huỳnh Minh-ha. Huỳnh Minh-ha was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The supporters of Tay Ninh booed when Thai Binh was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 7 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nguyễn Duy didn't get a good kick on the ball. Phạm Huynh Duc's late challenge caught a Thai Binh's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Phạm Huynh Duc helped the player get up and apologised. A collision led to Tay Ninh getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. Phạm Huynh Duc hit a great ball. Lương Duong missed a clear chance of a goal when in the 15 minute of the game fired away a shot, but unfortunally the ball went out to the Huỳnh Minh-ha right hand side. Tay Ninh's Huỳnh Minh-ha played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Phạm Thi in the 18th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 19th minute, Phan Hoa managed to get in a good position for a shot. Thai Binh's supporters rose to their feet, but Phan Hoa was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Huỳnh Minh-ha breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Phan Hong had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Nguyễn Tinh's late challenge caught a Tay Ninh's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Nguyễn Tinh helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Thai Binh's Nguyễn Tinh got a free kick in the 23rd minute. The audience thought a goal was coming when Phạm Nam got free with Tạ Duc in the 25th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Tạ Duc showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Phan Hong, who was totally free with the ball in the 26th minute. When Phan Hoa came up free with the goalie in the 29th minute, the Thai Binh fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Phan Hoa couldn't finish the play. Tạ Duc made an important save on a dangerous shot by Phạm Nam in the 31st minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Nguyễn Tinh in the 33rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Huỳnh Minh-ha prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 36th minute, Phan Hoa got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Nguyễn Tinh in the 37th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Huỳnh Minh-ha prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a defensive mix-up in Thai Binh's zone, Lê Nghiêm-Minh stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Tạ Duc came out of the goal and Lê Nghiêm-Minh tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When the match had gone on for 40 minutes, Nguyễn Dung took a quick shot and it went in 1-1 without a chance for Tạ Duc to make any attempt to save it. When Phạm Nam came up free with the goalie in the 48th minute, the Tay Ninh fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Phạm Nam couldn't finish the play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The wind increased when Phan Hoa made the kick off in the second half. Thai Binh's Nguyễn Lien was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Huỳnh Minh-ha in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Phạm Tran's late challenge caught a Thai Binh's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Phạm Tran helped the player get up and apologised. In the 58th match minute, Tay Ninh was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Phạm Tran to maneuver through the defense. After having played for 60 minutes, Phan Hoa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Thai Binh's supporters crossed their fingers, but Phan Hoa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Tay Ninh's Huỳnh Minh-ha played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Phan Hoa in the 65th minute of play. Lê Nghiêm-Minh sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The throw-in from Phạm Huynh Duc in the 72nd minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Thai Binh's Bùi Tuan. Huỳnh Minh-ha made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ngô Hong in the 75th minute. Huỳnh Minh-ha showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Phan Hoa, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. Phan Hoa recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 77th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 81st minute, Nguyễn Dung hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 89thth minute of the game Phan Hoa who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Tay Ninh's Huỳnh Minh-ha was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 94th minute, Phan Hoa managed to get in a good position for a shot. When the referee blew the final whistle, you could see the dissatisfaction in the Thai Binh players' eyes. They were disappointed they hadn't taken more from the game.
