Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Phan Hong got the match started through his kick off. Huỳnh Minh-ha made an important save on a dangerous shot by Lý Minh-ha in the 6th minute. Nguyễn Tu's late challenge caught a Tay Ninh's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Nguyễn Tu helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Lao Cai's Nguyễn Tu got a free kick in the 13th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lê Nghiêm-Minh in the 15th minute of play forced Lao Cai's goalkeeper Nguyễn Thi to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 18 played minutes Tay Ninh got a freekick which was hit by Hoàng Hong Minh. After 20 minutes, Lê Nghiêm-Minh mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Tay Ninh and the Lao Cai players grew even worse after the yellow card. 23 minutes into the match, Tay Ninh's Phạm Nam sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Nguyễn Thi narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 29 minutes into the game, Mai Phong recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Huỳnh Minh-ha. Mai Phong showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-0. Nguyễn Thi took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Phạm Nam, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 33 minutes into the match, Tay Ninh's goalkeeper Huỳnh Minh-ha had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Lý Minh-ha. After having played for 34 minutes, Lý Minh-ha managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Lao Cai's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lý Minh-ha was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Phan Hong recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 45th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a rather tough play, Lao Cai's Chung Hoang got a free kick in the 47th minute. Af the end of the first half the score was 3-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Mai Phong was the one to do the kick off. Lao Cai's Nguyễn Thi played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Phan Hong in the 54th minute of play. Phạm Nam sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Huỳnh Minh-ha showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mai Phong, who was totally free with the ball in the 62nd minute. A collision led to Tay Ninh getting a freekick after 68 minutes play. Phan Hong hit a great ball. When Mai Phong came up free with the goalie in the 69th minute, the Lao Cai fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mai Phong couldn't finish the play. Phạm Nam's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Nguyễn Thi read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 70th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Lý Minh-ha in the 82nd minute of play forced Tay Ninh's goalkeeper Huỳnh Minh-ha to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Tay Ninh getting a freekick after 83 minutes play. Phan Hong hit a great ball. Mai Phong fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Huỳnh Minh-ha having to interfere. Mai Phong spun around in front of the goal 88 minutes in the game, and got away a shot that, to his disappointment, went to the left of Tay Ninh's goal. Lao Cai's Mai Phong got a good chance for a goal in the 92nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 93 minutes into the game, Lao Cai's Lý Minh-ha nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Huỳnh Minh-ha made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-0. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Lao Cai had won after a very even match.
