If Didi Kang had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 19th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match had gone on for 21 minutes, Nicholas Cheng put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Ali Yi-Sheng. Jerry Devan's late challenge caught a Sanskrit FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Jerry Devan helped the player get up and apologised. Jerry Devan hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. Ronn Lee sent away a hard shot on goal in the 32nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ali Yi-Sheng took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alam Shyan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Alam Shyan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Ali Yi-Sheng tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Launceston's Nicholas Cheng got a good chance for a goal in the 42nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The throw-in from Iskandar Dyce in the 44th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Launceston's Didi Kang. Ali Yi-Sheng made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Didi Kang in the 45th minute of play. In the 47th minute Nicholas Cheng shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ali Yi-Sheng saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Nicholas Cheng was the one to do the kick off. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After some careless play in the Launceston defense, Danish Chai kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Ong Lee. The Launceston fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Ong Lee should have stopped the shot. Amirul Dyce fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ali Yi-Sheng having to interfere. After having played for 85 minutes, Alam Shyan managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal.
