When Jonathan Yeo fell near the penalty area in the 33rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Young Lions's protests and gave Jonathan Yeo a yellow card for diving instead. In the 33rd minute, Jonathan Yeo hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Samuel Peng showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dennis Sheene in the 36th minute of the match. Samuel Peng made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dennis Sheene in the 38th minute of play. In the 38th minute Khai Yeo suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. After 38 minutes, Afiz Siong mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Young Lions and the Mitamlanes FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Mitamlanes FC made a substitution. Vasile Stan replaced Khai Yeo. Afiz Siong hit a great freekick 39 minutes into the match. After some careless play in the Young Lions defense, Cliff Holbrook kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Samuel Peng. The Young Lions fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Samuel Peng should have stopped the shot. After the first half Mitamlanes FC were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Dennis Sheene made the kick off in the second half. Vasile Stan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 54th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Samuel Peng having to interfere. Young Lions's Samuel Peng played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dennis Sheene in the 57th minute of play. 59 minutes into the match, Young Lions's goal looked a bit too open when Vasile Stan came free, but Samuel Peng reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Vasile Stan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Samuel Peng having to interfere. When Mitamlanes FC's Dennis Sheene in the 61st minute got a chance for a shot 61st didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Young Lions's goalie prevented a goal. Dennis Sheene could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 66th minute of the match, but Samuel Peng made a huge save. Jason Blakeley fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 69th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Samuel Peng having to interfere. In the 70th match minute, Young Lions was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Afiz Siong to maneuver through the defense. Jason Blakeley recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 73rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Dennis Sheene sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Samuel Peng showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dennis Sheene in the 84th minute of the match. Cliff Holbrook hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match. If Cliff Holbrook had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 92nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 94 minutes into the match, Young Lions's goalkeeper Samuel Peng had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Dennis Sheene. When the final whistle sounded Mitamlanes FC left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Young Lions.
