In the 10thth minute of the game Faiz Ching who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but LionsXII's Asiz Yi-Sheng was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 12th minute, Faiz Ching got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. If Daniz Tan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Muhammad Tuan's late challenge caught a MirellasBar N.C.'s player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Muhammad Tuan helped the player get up and apologised. In the 19th match minute, LionsXII was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Muhammad Tuan to maneuver through the defense. Faiz Ching sent away a hard shot on goal in the 22nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 25th minute, Azam Tan ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Asiz Yi-Sheng was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. In the 30th minute Ron Tee shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Albert Phua saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 31st minute, Azam Abdul got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When the match had gone on for 38 minutes, Ron Tee took a quick shot and it went in 1-1 without a chance for Albert Phua to make any attempt to save it. Muhammad Tuan got his second yellow card in the match during the 41st minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. The supporters of MirellasBar N.C. booed when LionsXII was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 44 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ron Tee didn't get a good kick on the ball. Asiz Yi-Sheng made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Azam Tan in the 47th minute of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Faiz Ching to strike the kick off in the second half. 52 minutes into the match, LionsXII's goal looked a bit too open when Faiz Ching came free, but Asiz Yi-Sheng reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Faiz Ching sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 63 played minutes MirellasBar N.C. got a freekick which was hit by Lamar Lee. Albert Phua showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Azam Abdul, who was totally free with the ball in the 66th minute. After 67 played minutes MirellasBar N.C. got a freekick which was hit by Iskandar Rajah. Azam Abdul sent away a hard shot on goal in the 68th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Azam Abdul fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Albert Phua having to interfere. Asiz Yi-Sheng made an important save on a dangerous shot by Faiz Ching in the 78th minute. In the 79th minute, Daniz Tan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. LionsXII's Asiz Yi-Sheng proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 80th minute of the match, managed to save LionsXII from getting a goal against them. When Azam Tan came up free with the goalie in the 82nd minute, the MirellasBar N.C. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Azam Tan couldn't finish the play. Albert Phua took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniz Tan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 90th minute, Azam Abdul ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Albert Phua was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. Azam Abdul struck a weak shot in the 94th minute. Albert Phua didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for LionsXII. Asiz Yi-Sheng showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Faiz Ching, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute.
