Jerry Ning recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 3rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. The audience was convinced that Jerry Ning's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Asiz Yi-Sheng was relentless in the 6th minute of the game. Jerry Ning sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Asiz Yi-Sheng showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jerry Ning in the 15th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, LionsXII's Rifki Seng got a free kick in the 19th minute. After a defensive mix-up in LionsXII's zone, Faiz Dyce stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Asiz Yi-Sheng came out of the goal and Faiz Dyce tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 23rd minute Jerry Ning shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Asiz Yi-Sheng saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Asiz Yi-Sheng took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jerry Ning, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of SouthSingapore booed when LionsXII was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 28 match minutes in a wonderful position. Darren Hui didn't get a good kick on the ball. Faiz Dyce was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 29th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Jerry Ning fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Asiz Yi-Sheng having to interfere. In the 42nd minute Jerry Ning shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Asiz Yi-Sheng saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The wind increased when Jerry Ning made the kick off in the second half. One of LionsXII:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of SouthSingapore:s goal. Daniz Tan hit a great freekick 69 minutes into the match. Jerry Ning blasted a shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Asiz Yi-Sheng having to make a save. 72 minutes into the match, Danial Koh dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Asiz Yi-Sheng, 0-5. Asiz Yi-Sheng made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jerry Ning in the 76th minute of play. In the 78th minute, Muhammad Tuan left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The LionsXII fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-5. If Danial Koh had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 83rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 86 minutes into the game, Jerry Ning lined in a short shot 1-6 behind a frustrated Asiz Yi-Sheng. 91 minutes into the game, one of LionsXII:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. If Jerry Ning had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 99th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
