The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Rudy Hee made an important save on a dangerous shot by Adrian Pitts in the 6th minute. Alif Politiek received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Cliff Workman tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cliff Workman showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fariz Hee, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. Cliff Workman made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alif Politiek in the 35th minute of play. Alif Politiek might have been able to make a better finish in the 36th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Cliff Workman. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Alif Politiek ran back to his position shaking his head. Cliff Workman took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Mohammad Hsi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Alif Politiek received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Cliff Workman tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 45th match minute, Macclesfield United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Perry Weeks to maneuver through the defense. In the 47th minute of the match Kings Cross got a corner. Macclesfield United's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Haziq Cheng ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Kings Cross's Haziq Cheng to fire away a dangerous shot which Cliff Workman despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Deon Branch stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. When the match had gone on for 53 minutes, Adrian Pitts put it in 2-2 from a short distance just to the right of Rudy Hee. Macclesfield United's Cliff Workman played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mohammad Hsi in the 60th minute of play. Rudy Hee's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Cliff Workman read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 62nd minute of play. Cliff Workman made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mohammad Hsi in the 63rd minute of play. In the 64th match minute, Macclesfield United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Doug Duffield to maneuver through the defense. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alif Politiek got free with Cliff Workman in the 65th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 66 played minutes Macclesfield United got a freekick which was hit by Doug Duffield. In the 68th play minute Alif Politiek came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Cliff Workman. 3-3. Alif Politiek recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 74th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Kings Cross's Fariz Hee was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 77th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal. Mohammad Hsi sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Mohammad Hsis short, quick shot in the 86thth minute got Cliff Workman to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 89th minute of the match, Afriz Braddell got a very nice opportunity to score, but Cliff Workman was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. After having played for 90 minutes, Alex Abisheganaden managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Kings Cross's supporters crossed their fingers, but Alex Abisheganaden was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Perry Weeks hit a great freekick 93 minutes into the match. In the 96th minute the ball was on its way in behind Macclesfield United's goalkeeper Cliff Workman, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. The Macclesfield United fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Kings Cross were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
