Ang Namasivayam sent away a hard shot on goal in the 4th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Alexander Teo didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Faris Lam went, in the 6th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. Faris Lam sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Hidayat Teo got free with Ong Vijiaratnam in the 16th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 17 played minutes Manchester United got a freekick which was hit by Hidayat Liang. After 23 minutes of play, Manchester United's Adam Cheng made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Alexander Teo was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 26th minute the ball was on its way in behind Runcorn's goalkeeper Alexander Teo, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 30 minutes into the match, Runcorn's goal looked a bit too open when Adam Cheng came free, but Alexander Teo reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Didi Low received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Ong Vijiaratnam tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Manchester United's Ang Namasivayam got a good chance for a goal in the 38th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Ang Namasivayam recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 39th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After having played for 46 minutes, Hidayat Liang managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Manchester United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Hidayat Liang was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After the first half Manchester United were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Adam Cheng was the one to do the kick off. With splendid footwork Adam Cheng arrived in front of goal to shoot 1-3 by the left pole in the game's 52nd minute. In the 55th minute, Hidayat Liang got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Adam Cheng in the 57th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Alexander Teo prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Alexander Teo came out of the goal in the 59th minute to try and stop a shot by Manchester United's Adam Cheng. But to his dismay, Adam Cheng quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-4. Hidayat Liang recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 66th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 67th minute, Faris Lam managed to get in a good position for a shot. Manchester United's supporters rose to their feet, but Faris Lam was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Alexander Teo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Alexander Teo took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Faris Lam, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The supporters of Manchester United booed when Runcorn was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 71 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rifki Chan didn't get a good kick on the ball. A throw-in in the 73rd minute of the game was made by Khairul Lee with Tan Politiek as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. A collision led to Manchester United getting a freekick after 74 minutes play. Hidayat Liang hit a great ball. The supporters of Runcorn booed when Manchester United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 78 match minutes in a wonderful position. Darren Dhanabalan didn't get a good kick on the ball. When the match had gone on for 79 minutes, Didi Low put it in 2-4 from a short distance just to the right of Ong Vijiaratnam. Adam Cheng sent away a hard shot on goal in the 84th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Darren Dhanabalan received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Alexander Teo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Faris Lam in the 87th minute of play forced Runcorn's goalkeeper Alexander Teo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Hidayat Liang had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 90th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 93rd minute Faris Lam shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Alexander Teo saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 94th match minute, Manchester United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hidayat Liang to maneuver through the defense. When the match was over Manchester United could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Runcorn throughout the match.
