After having played for 14 minutes, Rufus Sharp managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Blyth's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rufus Sharp was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Ong Pillai stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Rufus Sharp's shot from short distance in the 23rd minute. Laurence Brewer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 24th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ong Pillai having to interfere. A collision led to Shelfield United getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Hidayat Kang hit a great ball. Shelfield United's Ong Pillai played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rufus Sharp in the 28th minute of play. In the 30th minute, Blyth's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Ryan Ee fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Muhammad Liang took the ball and in the 30 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Robin Garforth. Robin Garforth dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-0. Ong Pillai made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rufus Sharp in the 36th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Rufus Sharp's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ong Pillai was relentless in the 36th minute of the game. Rufus Sharp received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Ong Pillai tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 39th minute, Rufus Sharp got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
