Zafran Sim received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 10th minute. Shahiran Lee tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. With his leg Hidayat Chai managed to avoid a goal in the 13thth minute, when Lion's Alan Hoe fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Gage Choo kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. Zafran Sim sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Zafran Sim in the 23rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Shahiran Lee saved Lion from getting behind. Amir Hong charged in rather forcefully in the 23rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Amir Hong the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 24th minute, Amir Hong hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 33 minutes, Shah Sim mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the 重庆1997 and the Lion players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, 重庆1997's Shah Sim got a free kick in the 33rd minute. When Asiz Seng came up free with the goalie in the 42nd minute, the 重庆1997 fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Asiz Seng couldn't finish the play. 43 minutes into the match, Lion's goal looked a bit too open when Tan Seng came free, but Shahiran Lee reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Zafran Sim's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Shahiran Lee read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 43rd minute of play. In the 48th minute, Asiz Seng ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Shahiran Lee was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-2.

In the 53rd minute, Shah Sim fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Shahiran Lee, passed just outside the right post. 56 minutes into the match, Lion's goal looked a bit too open when Asiz Seng came free, but Shahiran Lee reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Lion's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Asiz Seng was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-3. Tan Seng recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 73rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 74 minutes into the game, Zafran Sim cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-4. Shahiran Lee was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 77th minute Asiz Seng shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Shahiran Lee saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 85 minutes into the match, Lion's goalkeeper Shahiran Lee had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Tan Seng. If Tan Seng had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 86th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Lion's Shahiran Lee proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 88th minute of the match, managed to save Lion from getting a goal against them. Shahiran Lee showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Asiz Seng, who was totally free with the ball in the 89th minute. With a little luck, Lion's Shahiran Lee got control of the ball when Ong Tuan tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Alan Hoe had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
