With a couple of smart ball manuevers Merlin Chuan in the 3rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Azam Au saved Botley City from getting behind. Merlin Chuan had several of the Botley City's defenders around him in the penalty area when he, after 6 minutes of play, received a pass and succeeded in some way to shoot a shot which went straight ahead into goal. This resulted in a 1-0 score and a disappointed Azam Au as he didn't even see the shot coming. The supporters of Botley City booed when Stevenage United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Gabriel Chuan didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 13th match minute, Stevenage United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sharizan Soon to maneuver through the defense. Stevenage United's Jithu Lim played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Amirul Seah in the 16th minute of play. In the 18th minute, Alan Abisheganaden hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 20 minutes into the game, Botley City's Amirul Seah nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jithu Lim made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. Amirul Seah fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 23rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jithu Lim having to interfere. Jithu Lim showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Farhan Choo in the 26th minute of the match. In the 33rdth minute of the game Farhan Choo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Stevenage United's Jithu Lim was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 35th minute, Merlin Chuan ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Azam Au was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. If Amirul Seah had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. An unexpectedly hard shot by Merlin Chuan in the 46th minute of play forced Botley City's goalkeeper Azam Au to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.

Merlin Chuan's late challenge caught a Botley City's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Merlin Chuan helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Stevenage United's Merlin Chuan got a free kick in the 51st minute. A collision led to Stevenage United getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Gabriel Chuan hit a great ball. In the 58th minute Amirul Seah shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jithu Lim saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Merlin Chuan in the 60th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Azam Au prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Jerry Peng had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. Farhan Choo let the left foot speak when in front of goal in the 73rd minute shot 2-3 at rihgt post. After having played for 81 minutes, Merlin Chuan managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Stevenage United's supporters crossed their fingers, but Merlin Chuan was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Merlin Chuan scored 3-3 in the 83rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Azam Au, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 87th match minute, Stevenage United was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ryan Namasivayam to maneuver through the defense. Alan Abisheganaden kicked well hit freekick during the 89th minute of the match. Jithu Lim showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Amirul Seah, who was totally free with the ball in the 92nd minute. When the match had gone on for 94 minutes, Merlin Chuan put it in 4-3 from a short distance just to the right of Azam Au. For all the effort they put into the match, the Botley City players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Stevenage United.
