Tonying Mangkay showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bill Taasan, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Bill Taasan in the 23rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Tonying Mangkay saved Philippine Azkals from getting behind. If Tito Bengco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience was convinced that Elbert Buyco's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Tonying Mangkay was relentless in the 29th minute of the game. Philippine Azkals's Tonying Mangkay played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bill Taasan in the 31st minute of play. After a rather tough play, Philippine Azkals's Herbert Karingal got a free kick in the 35th minute. In the 36th minute Elbert Buyco shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tonying Mangkay saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 36 played minutes Philippine Azkals got a freekick which was hit by Rizalino Jacutin. 김다미's Bill Taasan got a good chance for a goal in the 38th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 47th minute of the match, Glenn Valenzuela got a very nice opportunity to score, but Jeric Bustamante was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

If Bill Taasan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 51st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match had gone on for 52 minutes, Elbert Buyco put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Tonying Mangkay. Bervic Quiodala sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 58th match minute, Philippine Azkals was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rizalino Jacutin to maneuver through the defense. Elbert Buyco could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 61st minute of the match, but Tonying Mangkay made a huge save. A collision led to Philippine Azkals getting a freekick after 62 minutes play. Rizalino Jacutin hit a great ball. Bill Taasan recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 63rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 69th minute Bill Taasan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tonying Mangkay saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of 김다미 booed when Philippine Azkals was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rizalino Jacutin didn't get a good kick on the ball. 71 minutes into the match, Philippine Azkals's goal looked a bit too open when Bill Taasan came free, but Tonying Mangkay reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Elbert Buyco sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 78 minutes into the match, Philippine Azkals's goalkeeper Tonying Mangkay had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Elbert Buyco. If Elbert Buyco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 83 minutes into the match, Philippine Azkals's goal looked a bit too open when Bill Taasan came free, but Tonying Mangkay reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 84 played minutes 김다미 got a freekick which was hit by Hugh Santiago. Herbert Karingal missed a clear chance of a goal when in the 86 minute of the game fired away a shot, but unfortunally the ball went out to the Jeric Bustamante right hand side. Glenn Valenzuela recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 88th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Tonying Mangkay was a little too slow when Bill Taasan got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 91st minute. The score was now 0-2.
