Virgil Rubio showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Christian Lapuz in the 13th minute of the match. Christian Lapuz struck a weak shot in the 14th minute. Virgil Rubio didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for DREAM. Godofredo Bunsoy could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 19th minute of the match, but Manuelo Galacio made a huge save. Christian Lapuz hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. The nice shot from Godofredo Bunsoy in the 22ndth minute just in front of the goal should have ended in point on the board, but Manuelo Galacio had a great feel for the game and superbly saved the ball from getting in by the left post. Virgil Rubio came out of the goal in the 30th minute to try and stop a shot by DREAM's Louis Bagongarao. But to his dismay, Louis Bagongarao quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. After a rather tough play, Philippine AZkals's Meralco Gatbonton got a free kick in the 32nd minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Louis Bagongarao in the 33rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Virgil Rubio saved Philippine AZkals from getting behind. In the 34th minute, Christian Lapuz got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Christian Lapuz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 37th minute. Virgil Rubio tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience was convinced that Louis Bagongarao's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Virgil Rubio was relentless in the 40th minute of the game. Louis Bagongarao might have been able to make a better finish in the 42nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Virgil Rubio. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. The wind increased when Bayani Cabuquit made the kick off in the second half. Virgil Rubio came out of the goal in the 52nd minute to try and stop a shot by DREAM's Rizaldo Allado. But to his dismay, Rizaldo Allado quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-3. When Macho Booth came up free with the goalie in the 58th minute, the DREAM fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Macho Booth couldn't finish the play. Virgil Rubio was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it.
