But to his dismay, Uum Ie quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-2. 25 minutes into the game, Eboy Ginting was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sabah's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Beuniseuri the free kick. In the 25th minute, Eboy Ginting hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Beuniseuri's Ruslan Suprianto played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Haryanto Hans in the 28th minute of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Bongky Sitepu made a kick off. With a little luck, Beuniseuri's Ruslan Suprianto got control of the ball when Uum Ie tried to sneak it across the goal line. Sabah were delighted with the way they had won the match. They had held their defensive line well and made the most of their chances, to claim a victory over Beuniseuri's much stronger midfield.
