In the 17th minute 이 홍 shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Mark Kalimulin saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If 김 범 had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Cambridge's Mark Kalimulin proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 29th minute of the match, managed to save Cambridge from getting a goal against them. When 김 범 came up free with the goalie in the 30th minute, the Formby AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that 김 범 couldn't finish the play. With a little luck, Cambridge's Mark Kalimulin got control of the ball when 김 범 tried to sneak it across the goal line. 34 minutes into the match, Cambridge's goalkeeper Mark Kalimulin had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by 김 서문. In the 38th match minute, Cambridge was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by 김 백 to maneuver through the defense. After recieving a nice pass, Formby AFC's 유 범 tried to score from far away in the 39th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. In the 40th minute, 이 홍 fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Oscar Flor to make the kick off. If 이 홍 had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 52nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Mark Kalimulin made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from 이 홍 in the 53rd minute of play. In the 56thth minute of the game 김 범 who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Cambridge's Mark Kalimulin was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 68th minute, Guga Magalhães got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Mark Kalimulin tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Formby AFC walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
