Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Barney Mills started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. In the 4th minute, Todd Travers got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 6 minutes in the game, Todd Travers fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Kris Prinsep having to interfere. After some careless play in the Kununurra defense, Carleton Hayman kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Bernie Ryan. The Kununurra fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Bernie Ryan should have stopped the shot. If Barney Mills had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 11th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jones Skurrie kicked well hit freekick during the 13th minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Todd Travers's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Kris Prinsep was relentless in the 15th minute of the game. Barney Mills sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 22nd minute, Kununurra's Todd Travers dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. 25 minutes into the match, Kununurra's goal looked a bit too open when Carleton Hayman came free, but Bernie Ryan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Kununurra's Dalton Trevena in the 32nd minute got a chance for a shot 32nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Ayr's goalie prevented a goal. Kris Prinsep showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Todd Travers in the 37th minute of the match. Carleton Hayman received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 39th minute. Bernie Ryan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 43 played minutes Ayr got a freekick which was hit by Jones Skurrie. Todd Travers might have been able to make a better finish in the 47th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Kris Prinsep. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Todd Travers ran back to his position shaking his head. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Todd Travers was the one to do the kick off. After 57 played minutes Ayr got a freekick which was hit by Jones Skurrie. When Benard Tucknott came up free with the goalie in the 71st minute, the Kununurra fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Benard Tucknott couldn't finish the play. Carleton Hayman struck a weak shot in the 72nd minute. Bernie Ryan didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ayr. The crowd rose to their feet as Barney Mills kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Bernie Ryan. That made the score 1-2 in the 74 minute of play. 77 minutes into the match, Kununurra's goalkeeper Bernie Ryan had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Barney Mills. In the 83rd minute, Barney Mills reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Bernie Ryan. The goal made the score 1-3. After some fancy dribbling in the 86th minute, Jones Skurrie managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ayr's supporters rose to their feet, but Jones Skurrie was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Bernie Ryan breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Ayr walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
