The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 6 minutes into the match, Jason Wood notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of Globelands's Nelson Freel. Nelson Freel was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alberto Christian in the 12th minute of play forced Globelands's goalkeeper Nelson Freel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alberto Christian fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nelson Freel having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jason Wood in the 16th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nelson Freel prevented the ball from getting in the gole. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jason Wood in the 17th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Nelson Freel saved Globelands from getting behind. In the 20th minute Jason Wood shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nelson Freel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nelson Freel stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jason Wood's shot from short distance in the 22nd minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jason Wood in the 26th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Nelson Freel saved Globelands from getting behind. Iggi Muddle's late challenge caught a Melbourne FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Iggi Muddle helped the player get up and apologised. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jason Wood in the 32nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nelson Freel prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 33 minutes Globelands's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was David Perrett who took care of the corner kick. The corner led Melbourne FC's Jason Wood to a score. 0-3 in the 33rd minute. Nelson Freel showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alberto Christian in the 37th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Globelands's Keefe Atkin got a free kick in the 38th minute. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Iggi Muddle made a kick off. Jason Woods short, quick shot in the 54thth minute got Nelson Freel to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Jason Wood did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 0-5 to the left of a surprised Nelson Freel 56 minutes into the match. Alberto Christian sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 64 minutes into the match, Globelands's goal looked a bit too open when Jason Wood came free, but Nelson Freel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 68 played minutes Globelands got a freekick which was hit by Brock Tupman. When Alberto Christian came up free with the goalie in the 71st minute, the Melbourne FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alberto Christian couldn't finish the play. David Perrett kicked well hit freekick during the 73rd minute of the match. In the 74th minute, Phil Sennett hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Nelson Freel was a little too slow when Alberto Christian got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 80th minute. The score was now 0-6. When the match clock showed 83 minutes, the score became 0-7 when Jason Wood sped through Globelands's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Nelson Freel. Phil Sennett fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Nelson Freel having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jason Wood in the 90th minute of play forced Globelands's goalkeeper Nelson Freel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 92ndth minute of the game Jason Wood who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Globelands's Nelson Freel was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jason Wood in the 95th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nelson Freel prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Melbourne FC's Jason Wood in the 98th minute got a chance for a shot 98th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Globelands's goalie prevented a goal. Melbourne FC's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
