Match Report
Bletchley
Spectators: 7620 (Terracing: 5716,
Seating: 1752, VIP seats: 152) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Russel Hunter kicked off to start the match. Elliot Powell took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jacob Riley, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 5 played minutes Marcus got a freekick which was hit by Adolph Worsley. When Earl Vaisey came up free with the goalie in the 6th minute, the Bletchley fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Earl Vaisey couldn't finish the play. After having played for 8 minutes, Russel Hunter managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Bletchley's supporters crossed their fingers, but Russel Hunter was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 18 minutes into the match, Marcus's goal looked a bit too open when Russel Hunter came free, but Dugald White reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jacob Riley might have been able to make a better finish in the 22nd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Elliot Powell. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Jacob Riley ran back to his position shaking his head. With a little luck, Marcus's Dugald White got control of the ball when Earl Vaisey tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 31stth minute of the game Jacob Riley who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Bletchley's Elliot Powell was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. If Pearce Telfer had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 32nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jeffers Colman charged in rather forcefully in the 33rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jeffers Colman the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Jeffers Colman got his second yellow card in the match during the 36th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. Elliot Powell took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jacob Riley, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Bletchley's Earl Vaisey got a good chance for a goal in the 43rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Edwardo Hodgson charged in rather forcefully in the 45th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Edwardo Hodgson the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Edwardo Hodgson hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. Elliot Powell made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jacob Riley in the 47th minute of play. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Jacob Riley to strike the kick off in the second half. Jacob Riley sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. The audience was convinced that Jacob Riley's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Elliot Powell was relentless in the 56th minute of the game. Pearce Telfer fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Elliot Powell having to interfere. After 68 minutes, Randle Vickery mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Bletchley and the Marcus players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 73rd minute, Darell Boston hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 80 minutes of play, Bletchley's Earl Vaisey made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Dugald White was left in no man's land by his defense there! Elliot Powell stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jacob Riley's shot from short distance in the 82nd minute. 83 minutes into the match, Bletchley's goalkeeper Elliot Powell had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Jacob Riley. Marcus's Edwardo Hodgson got a good chance for a goal in the 85th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Marcus's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Meyer Jackson in the 89th minute. Dugald White took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Earl Vaisey, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 91st minute, Adolph Worsley hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Logan Grigson hit a great freekick 93 minutes into the match. Many of Marcus's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Marcus may have spent more time on the ball, but Bletchley were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
