The supporters of Sydney Irish FC booed when Seahawks FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Carlo Gentile didn't get a good kick on the ball. Doyle Mcmillan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sixto Gabino in the 13th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Sydney Irish FC defense, Alif Wisanggeni kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Doyle Mcmillan. The Sydney Irish FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Doyle Mcmillan should have stopped the shot. 21 minutes into the game, Seahawks FC's Benney Beckwith nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Doyle Mcmillan made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. Bernardinho de Godoi made a fantastic save in the 25th minute, when Hale Schutt sent off a good shot on target. Bernardinho de Godoi was out of position in the 26 minute of play, and Duffield Twite capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Duffield Twite really showed his touch with that goal: 1-2. Benney Beckwith recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 28th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Leo Galfrè fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 31st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Doyle Mcmillan having to interfere. After 34 played minutes Sydney Irish FC got a freekick which was hit by Jamie Plank. Belton Norman's long shot made the audience stand up and applaude when it rumbled by Doyle Mcmillan on his right side and into the goal. 35 minutes into the game it was 1-3. When the match clock showed 39 minutes, the score became 1-4 when Benney Beckwith sped through Sydney Irish FC's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Doyle Mcmillan. After a defensive mix-up in Sydney Irish FC's zone, Leo Galfrè stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Doyle Mcmillan came out of the goal and Leo Galfrè tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Benney Beckwith had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Benney Beckwith to make the kick off. After 53 minutes Sydney Irish FC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Belton Norman who took care of the corner kick. Leo Galfrè received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Doyle Mcmillan tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 59th minute, Leo Galfrè got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After 66 minutes, Neal Bailey mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Sydney Irish FC and the Seahawks FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Neal Bailey kicked well hit freekick during the 66th minute of the match. In the 76th minute, Benney Beckwith got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Sixto Gabino sent away a hard shot on goal in the 78th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Sydney Irish FC's Doyle Mcmillan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Leo Galfrè in the 81st minute of play.
