The audience was convinced that Rufus Todman's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Jonathan Groves was relentless in the 38th minute of the game. With a little luck, Kelso's Randall Glover got control of the ball when Bernard Babbage tried to sneak it across the goal line. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 90th match minute, Kelso was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Brock Cave to maneuver through the defense. When the referee blew the final whistle, Kelso could leave the field as winners, despite Wietalaba having more of the ball for most of the match.
