In the 4th minute Dagan Petersen shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Berke Beckwith saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Goolwa's Alford Nurthen got a free kick in the 5th minute. Alan Loch sent away a hard shot on goal in the 7th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. Berke Beckwith took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dagan Petersen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After a defensive mix-up in Palmerston's zone, Ryan Mcmahon stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bern Mcjunkins came out of the goal and Ryan Mcmahon tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 20th minute, Brayden Fessey ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Bern Mcjunkins was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Berke Beckwith showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dagan Petersen in the 23rd minute of the match. Alan Lochs short, quick shot in the 24thth minute got Berke Beckwith to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Bern Mcjunkins showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Brayden Fessey, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 31st minute, Ryan Mcmahon managed to get in a good position for a shot. Goolwa's supporters rose to their feet, but Ryan Mcmahon was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Bern Mcjunkins breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Alan Loch had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Brayden Fessey received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 35th minute. Bern Mcjunkins tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Berke Beckwith made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dagan Petersen in the 43rd minute of play. 45 minutes into the match, Goolwa's goalkeeper Berke Beckwith had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Keefer Mcgrath. After a defensive mix-up in Palmerston's zone, Ryan Mcmahon stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Bern Mcjunkins came out of the goal and Ryan Mcmahon tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

When Dagan Petersen came up free with the goalie in the 55th minute, the Palmerston fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dagan Petersen couldn't finish the play. Alford Nurthen hit a great freekick 65 minutes into the match. In the 67th minute of the game, Battle Tout landed unfortunately after trying to head the ball, and pulled a muscle in the back, so badly that he had to leave the field. In the 68th match minute, Goolwa was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ryan Mcmahon to maneuver through the defense. Ryan Mcmahon fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Bern Mcjunkins having to interfere. 76 minutes into the game, Max Rosenboom was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Goolwa's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Palmerston the free kick. The supporters of Palmerston booed when Goolwa was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Max Rosenboom didn't get a good kick on the ball. The audience was convinced that Lauder Rhodes's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Berke Beckwith was relentless in the 78th minute of the game. Bern Mcjunkins took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Brayden Fessey, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Ryan Mcmahon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 92 minutes, Larkin Andrews mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Goolwa and the Palmerston players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 92nd match minute, Goolwa was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Larkin Andrews to maneuver through the defense. If Ryan Mcmahon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Goolwa's Ryan Mcmahon got a good chance for a goal in the 96th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.
