Stanley Rennie was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Dani Fitzsimmons hit a great freekick 6 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 9th minute, Case Rear managed to get in a good position for a shot. Gayside's supporters rose to their feet, but Case Rear was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Stanley Rennie breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Meyer Brophy charged in rather forcefully in the 10th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Meyer Brophy the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The supporters of Menziess booed when Gayside was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 10 match minutes in a wonderful position. Meyer Brophy didn't get a good kick on the ball. After taking down the ball on Menziess's corner Dani Fitzsimmons fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Andre Tauschke quite easily take care of the ball. Brandon Egel kicked well hit freekick during the 16th minute of the match. 26 minutes into the match, Menziess's goal looked a bit too open when Phil Brennan came free, but Stanley Rennie reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Dani Fitzsimmons could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 31st minute of the match, but Andre Tauschke made a huge save. Evan Johnston charged in rather forcefully in the 31st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. In the 37th minute, one of Gayside:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Gayside. When the match had been going on for 38 minutes, Menziess's Dani Fitzsimmons got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Andre Tauschke. In the 42nd minute Meyer Brophy shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Stanley Rennie saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Case Rear in the 43rd minute of play forced Menziess's goalkeeper Stanley Rennie to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 43 played minutes Menziess got a freekick which was hit by Brandon Egel. In the 45th minute Case Rear shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Stanley Rennie saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 46thth minute of the game Michael Wilde who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Gayside's Andre Tauschke was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Case Rear stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Michael Wilde had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Meyer Brophy's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 55thth minute, Stanley Rennie skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. When Phil Brennan fell near the penalty area in the 59th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Gayside's protests and gave Phil Brennan a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Menziess booed when Gayside was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 59 match minutes in a wonderful position. Phil Brennan didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dani Fitzsimmons fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Andre Tauschke having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bradford Clinton in the 64th minute of play forced Gayside's goalkeeper Andre Tauschke to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 76th minute, Case Rear left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Gayside fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-2. When Menziess's Michael Wilde in the 82nd minute got a chance for a shot 82nd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Gayside's goalie prevented a goal. If Michael Wilde had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 85th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Dani Fitzsimmons blasted a shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Andre Tauschke having to make a save. Meyer Brophy who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 87thth minute tested the skills of Stanley Rennie when he managed to save the team from getting behind.
