Duffield Terris showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ralph Caddick, who was totally free with the ball in the 7th minute. Bjorn Czaczka hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. 11 minutes had been played when some careless play by Spuds United's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Randle Mitchell was slow to take the kick. During this time Merinda's players had a chance to rest. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Spuds United's goalie and right to Brian Pukallus. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Spuds United's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. The supporters of Spuds United booed when Merinda was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 15 match minutes in a wonderful position. Brian Pukallus didn't get a good kick on the ball. Boyce Boneheyo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Benjamin Pears tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Duffield Terris showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ralph Caddick in the 20th minute of the match. Eddy Claringbold scored 1-0 in the 23rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Benjamin Pears, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Eddy Claringbold sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ralph Caddick recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 35th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Brad Serena received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Duffield Terris tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Boyce Boneheyo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. After 41 played minutes Merinda got a freekick which was hit by Kirk Beins. Through an outstanding action, after 46 minutes, Benjamin Pears successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. The supporters of Merinda booed when Spuds United was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 49 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bjorn Czaczka didn't get a good kick on the ball. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Ralph Caddick made a kick off. In the 54th minute Eddy Claringbold shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benjamin Pears saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Ralph Caddick, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 57 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Duffield Terris was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. If Brad Serena had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Ralph Caddick sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 66 minutes, Brockman Houldsworth mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Merinda and the Spuds United players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 66th minute, Brockman Houldsworth hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The audience thought a goal was coming when Brad Serena got free with Duffield Terris in the 76th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 81st minute, Brad Serena got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Cornelius Wayland kicked well hit freekick during the 82nd minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Ralph Caddick in the 89th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Duffield Terris prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Ralph Caddick sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Spuds United players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
