Winning 11's supporters rose to their feet, but Irwin Hodson was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jessop Muddle breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Jeremy Mueller fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 6th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jessop Muddle having to interfere. Irwin Hodson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 8th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Craig Mcinnes took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eddie Munster, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 16 minutes into the match, Sunderland's goal looked a bit too open when Jeremy Mueller came free, but Jessop Muddle reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jeremy Mueller in the 17th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jessop Muddle prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Irwin Hodson received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 19th minute. Jessop Muddle tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Irwin Hodson fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jessop Muddle having to interfere. Jessop Muddle showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Irwin Hodson in the 28th minute of the match. Randle Foley charged in rather forcefully in the 31st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Randle Foley the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Barnard Bower walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. 44 minutes into the game, Eddie Munster recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Craig Mcinnes. Eddie Munster showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-0. Sunderland's Jessop Muddle played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Irwin Hodson in the 48th minute of play. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Irwin Hodson couldn't finish the play. Jessop Muddle stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jeremy Mueller's shot from short distance in the 68th minute. After 73 played minutes Winning 11 got a freekick which was hit by Ellis Rhodes. In the 76th minute, Eddie Munster ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Craig Mcinnes was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-0. In the 83rd minute Eddie Munster shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Craig Mcinnes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience thought a goal was coming when Irwin Hodson got free with Jessop Muddle in the 88th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Eddie Munster fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Craig Mcinnes having to interfere. Winning 11's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
