Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Brock Luckham took the kick off in the first half of the match. Neal Vaughan kicked well hit freekick during the 7th minute of the match. The long shot by Rex Whittington in the 7th minute really tested Pete Mcjunkin's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. In the 15th minute, Gregg Stevenson got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 17 minutes into the match, Capella's goal looked a bit too open when Olin Rowdon came free, but Carlisle Paddle reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 19th minute Olin Rowdon shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Carlisle Paddle saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gregg Stevenson took the ball and in the 20 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Carlisle Paddle. Carlisle Paddle dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Rod Millar fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Pete Mcjunkin having to interfere. Gregg Stevenson blasted a shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Carlisle Paddle having to make a save. In the last second Pete Mcjunkin throw himself and got hold of the ball when Brock Luckham in the 40thth minute from his position got away a shot towards the right post. Olin Rowdon sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Jacob Price shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. Samuel Digiuseppe took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 50th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Carlisle Paddle. Capella's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

After some fancy dribbling in the 53rd minute, Rod Millar managed to get in a good position for a shot. Capella's supporters rose to their feet, but Rod Millar was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Pete Mcjunkin breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
