Eavan Baptiste hit a great ball. In the 3rd minute, Douglas Ashwin hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Arthur Grandison showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from David Bonnison in the 6th minute of the match. Cheviot's Earnest Wirth played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Irwin Schutt in the 8th minute of play. The supporters of Melbourne Football Club booed when Cheviot was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 9 match minutes in a wonderful position. Barth Bohn didn't get a good kick on the ball. A hard shot 16 in the game by Jagger Wharton from a close distance when the talented Arthur Grandison managed to make a qualified save. Melbourne Football Club's players were relieved. A collision led to Melbourne Football Club getting a freekick after 17 minutes play. Brooker Rowden hit a great ball. Arthur Grandison showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from David Bonnison in the 18th minute of the match. Earnest Wirth took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Irwin Schutt, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Irwin Schutt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Melbourne Football Club's Dalton Kanack suffered a sore knee after 30 minutes and couldn't finish the game. After 30 minutes, Baxter Duncan mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Cheviot and the Melbourne Football Club players grew even worse after the yellow card. Melbourne Football Club made a substitution. Aron Mogork replaced Dalton Kanack. After a rather tough play, Cheviot's Baxter Duncan got a free kick in the 32nd minute. Melbourne Football Club's Brooker Rowden got a good chance for a goal in the 36th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. David Bonnison received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Arthur Grandison came out and tried to block the shot, but David Bonnison slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 39th minute. Arthur Grandison made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from David Bonnison in the 47th minute of play. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell David Bonnison to make the kick off. Bishop Foley sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Baxter Duncan in the 62nd minute of play forced Melbourne Football Club's goalkeeper Arthur Grandison to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Earnest Wirth was a little too slow when Bishop Foley got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 63rd minute. The score was now 1-1. Bishop Foley recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 66th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 67 minutes into the game, Irwin Schutt cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Earnest Wirth was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Bishop Foley recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 72nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Cheviot's Earnest Wirth played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Irwin Schutt in the 75th minute of play. The throw-in from John Freel in the 85th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Melbourne Football Club's Aron Mogork. Irwin Schutts short, quick shot in the 87thth minute got Earnest Wirth to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Irwin Schutt's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 96thth minute, Earnest Wirth skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. When the final whistle sounded Melbourne Football Club left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Cheviot.
