Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Bart Will started the match with the kick off. In the 3rd minute Corbett Hollingworth shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Burtt Wal saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a rather tough play, Lidsdale's Calvin Kanack got a free kick in the 9th minute. Artie Crapp hit a great freekick 17 minutes into the match. 20 minutes into the game, Dale Auger was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Coomunga's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Lidsdale the free kick. In the 20th match minute, Coomunga was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dale Auger to maneuver through the defense. Bart Will might have been able to make a better finish in the 21st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Loyd Brophy. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Bart Will ran back to his position shaking his head. 21 minutes into the match, Coomunga's goalkeeper Loyd Brophy had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Norman Maybury. After 23 played minutes Lidsdale got a freekick which was hit by Case Brennan. In the 23rd minute, Ronald Pinkerton sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Lidsdale's Burtt Wal didn't even have to move. Ronald Pinkerton was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 26th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Norman Maybury got free with Loyd Brophy in the 33rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Justin Hoey's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Burtt Wal read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 34th minute of play. Bart Will received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Loyd Brophy tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Norman Maybury sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The first half was very even, with the score at 0-0 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

Duke Samuels hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. Lidsdale's Bart Will got a good chance for a goal in the 54th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Norman Maybury struck a weak shot in the 58th minute. Loyd Brophy didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Lidsdale. Bart Will received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Loyd Brophy tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 61st minute Norman Maybury shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Loyd Brophy saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. With a little luck, Lidsdale's Burtt Wal got control of the ball when Justin Hoey tried to sneak it across the goal line. Dale Auger sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Bart Will sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Loyd Brophy didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Norman Maybury went, in the 72nd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. After some fancy dribbling in the 83rd minute, Justin Hoey managed to get in a good position for a shot. Coomunga's supporters rose to their feet, but Justin Hoey was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Burtt Wal breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. If Justin Hoey had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Burtt Wal showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Corbett Hollingworth in the 88th minute of the match. Davey Plank hit a great freekick 90 minutes into the match. If Corbett Hollingworth had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Coomunga's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
