Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Marshall Gracey started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. Patrick Bohn received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 3rd minute. Olin Leyden tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Carawa's Duncan Mcneven got a free kick in the 9th minute. The nice shot from Hale Lovis in the 10thth minute just in front of the goal should have ended in point on the board, but Olin Leyden had a great feel for the game and superbly saved the ball from getting in by the left post. After 13 minutes, Herman Beckwith mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Vineyard and the Carawa players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 12th minute, one of Vineyard:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Vineyard. In the 18th minute the ball was on its way in behind Carawa's goalkeeper Olin Leyden, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. If Bryden Powell had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Olin Leyden didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Bryden Powell went, in the 22nd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. A hard shot 26 in the game by Bryden Powell from a close distance when the talented Olin Leyden managed to make a qualified save. Carawa's players were relieved. Olin Leyden made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bryden Powell in the 31st minute of play. In the 32nd minute, Bryden Powell got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Marshall Gracey fell near the penalty area in the 34th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Carawa's protests and gave Marshall Gracey a yellow card for diving instead. Marshall Gracey kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. Olin Leyden took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bryden Powell, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Bryden Powell had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Olin Leyden made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bryden Powell in the 40th minute of play. Humphry Collins took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Duncan Mcneven, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 45 minutes into the match, Carawa's goalkeeper Olin Leyden had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Hale Lovis. Hale Lovis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Olin Leyden having to interfere. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Bryden Powell made a kick off. Jacobs Dowsing could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 53rd minute of the match, but Humphry Collins made a huge save. Olin Leyden took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Bryden Powell, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Olin Leyden made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Hale Lovis in the 57th minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Carawa's zone, Bryden Powell stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Olin Leyden came out of the goal and Bryden Powell tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Hale Lovis sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 63rd minute, Hale Lovis got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. In the 67th minute the ball was on its way in behind Carawa's goalkeeper Olin Leyden, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 68 minutes, Bryden Powell made it 2-1 with a short kick to the right side. Carawa's Olin Leyden tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. In the 73rd minute Hale Lovis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Olin Leyden saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bryden Powell in the 75th minute of play forced Carawa's goalkeeper Olin Leyden to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 77 minutes into the game, Bryden Powell cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-1. Olin Leyden was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Olin Leyden took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Patrick Bohn, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. During the 81st minute of the match Duncan Mcneven completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Duncan Mcneven a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. After 82 played minutes Carawa got a freekick which was hit by Duncan Mcneven. Bryden Powell's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Olin Leyden read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 91st minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Carawa's zone, Hale Lovis stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Olin Leyden came out of the goal and Hale Lovis tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 96th minute Hale Lovis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Olin Leyden saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Vineyard's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
