Neal Freeman recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 18th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Neal Freeman fell near the penalty area in the 18th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Newmarket Roses's protests and gave Neal Freeman a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Newmarket Roses's Neal Freeman got a free kick in the 18th minute. Neal Freeman fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 21st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Art Sperling having to interfere. 29 minutes into the game, Newmarket Roses's Neal Freeman nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Art Sperling made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. 32 minutes into the match, Newmarket Roses's goal looked a bit too open when Jared Kuskop came free, but Edmonds Goucher reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 34 minutes into the match, Rhodes's goal looked a bit too open when Jamese Fortington came free, but Art Sperling reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Abe Ramsay in the 41st minute of play forced Newmarket Roses's goalkeeper Edmonds Goucher to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 45th minute, Anthony Carbery ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Edmonds Goucher was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The wind increased when Neal Freeman made the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute there was a penalty for Newmarket Roses. Neal Freeman stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Art Sperling. 3-1. Rhodes's Art Sperling played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Neal Freeman in the 56th minute of play. Art Sperling showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Aaron Bohn in the 59th minute of the match. 60 minutes into the match, Neal Freeman notched a goal, 4-1, to the right of Rhodes's Art Sperling. Art Sperling was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. An unexpectedly hard shot by Jared Kuskop in the 63rd minute of play forced Newmarket Roses's goalkeeper Edmonds Goucher to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rhodes's Art Sperling played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Neal Freeman in the 68th minute of play. With a little luck, Newmarket Roses's Edmonds Goucher got control of the ball when Anthony Carbery tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 70th minute, Rhodes's Jared Kuskop ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Edmonds Goucher. Edmonds Goucher yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 4-2. In the 73rd minute, Rhodes's Lawrance Boserio dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 4-3. Newmarket Roses's Edmonds Goucher proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 76th minute of the match, managed to save Newmarket Roses from getting a goal against them. Edmonds Goucher showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jared Kuskop, who was totally free with the ball in the 82nd minute. Anthony Carbery could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 83rd minute of the match, but Edmonds Goucher made a huge save. Aron Locke sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance.
