A collision led to Churchill getting a freekick after 6 minutes play. Drake Glover hit a great ball. The audience was convinced that Dani Dorrell's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Ace Norton was relentless in the 7th minute of the game. Darwin's Archie Watts got a good chance for a goal in the 17th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Archie Watts sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 26th minute, Darwin's Dani Dorrell ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Ace Norton. Ace Norton yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. In the 34th minute Fletcher Hopkins shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lawrence Egel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 37th minute, Dani Dorrell got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The supporters of Churchill booed when Darwin was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. James Barker didn't get a good kick on the ball. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Tony Brennan stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Fletcher Hopkins hit a great freekick 51 minutes into the match. In the 55th minute Tony Brennan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lawrence Egel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Darwin's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
