Bud Brotherton recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 35th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Edmundson Brooks in the 38th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Phil Reynolds saved Gwando from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edmund Sewell in the 42nd minute of play forced Gwando's goalkeeper Phil Reynolds to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jesse Rizzardo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jesse Cookesley having to interfere. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Bud Brotherton to make the kick off. The audience was convinced that Edmundson Brooks's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Phil Reynolds was relentless in the 56th minute of the game. Phil Reynolds breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
