Tyalgum's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Bryan Brotherton was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. After 14 minutes, Meyer Benton mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Tyalgum and the Waaia players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 14th minute, Meyer Benton hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 14 minutes into the match, Waaia's Alford Rann broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. 17 minutes into the match, Birrell Giddey had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Earle Rhoades. After a defensive mix-up in Tyalgum's zone, Bryan Brotherton stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ernest Rowden came out of the goal and Bryan Brotherton tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A hard shot 25 in the game by Bryan Brotherton from a close distance when the talented Ernest Rowden managed to make a qualified save. Tyalgum's players were relieved. After some fancy dribbling in the 29th minute, Bryan Brotherton managed to get in a good position for a shot. Waaia's supporters rose to their feet, but Bryan Brotherton was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Ernest Rowden breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Neil Bunworth could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 31st minute of the match, but Ernest Rowden made a huge save. Jaffery Andrews took the ball and in the 36 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Earle Rhoades. Earle Rhoades dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-2. Earle Rhoades took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Stan Delahide, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 43 minutes into the match, Waaia's goal looked a bit too open when Birrell Giddey came free, but Earle Rhoades reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 2-2 after a close first half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Bryan Brotherton was the one to do the kick off. With a little luck, Waaia's Earle Rhoades got control of the ball when Stan Delahide tried to sneak it across the goal line. 55 minutes into the game, Waaia's Bryan Brotherton nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ernest Rowden made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-2. In the 84thth minute of the game Bryan Brotherton who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Tyalgum's Ernest Rowden was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Bryan Brotherton fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ernest Rowden having to interfere.
