The score was now 1-0. Earle Rhoades made an important save on a dangerous shot by Darrell Erwin in the 7th minute. Bryan Brotherton sent away a hard shot on goal in the 14th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ed Laycock showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bryan Brotherton in the 17th minute of the match. In the 21st minute, Alford Rann ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ed Laycock was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. In the 32nd minute, Darrell Erwin left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Youth Club fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-1. The supporters of Youth Club booed when Waaia was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dalwood Tebby didn't get a good kick on the ball. 37 minutes into the match, Youth Club's goal looked a bit too open when Bryan Brotherton came free, but Ed Laycock reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Alford Rann might have been able to make a better finish in the 38th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ed Laycock. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Alford Rann ran back to his position shaking his head. Randall Mills was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 43 minutes into the match. After 46 played minutes, Youth Club's Alex Dale shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Earle Rhoades came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Youth Club reached it. Earle Rhoades showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Curtis Kennewell, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-1 at half-time.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Curtis Kennewell stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Waaia's Bryan Brotherton got a good chance for a goal in the 53rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Neil Bunworth had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Neil Bunworth received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Ed Laycock tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The nice shot from Bryan Brotherton in the 57thth minute just in front of the goal should have ended in point on the board, but Ed Laycock had a great feel for the game and superbly saved the ball from getting in by the left post. 59 minutes into the match, Waaia's Dalwood Tebby sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ed Laycock narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Ed Laycock made an important save on a dangerous shot by Bryan Brotherton in the 60th minute. When Neil Bunworth came up free with the goalie in the 61st minute, the Waaia fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Neil Bunworth couldn't finish the play. In the 64th minute, Bryan Brotherton got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Neil Bunworth succeeded to score despite a near miss that spronge from right pole into the goal to 2-2 in the 66th playminute. With a little luck, Youth Club's Ed Laycock got control of the ball when Bryan Brotherton tried to sneak it across the goal line. A collision led to Waaia getting a freekick after 76 minutes play. A hard shot 85 in the game by Bryan Brotherton from a close distance when the talented Ed Laycock managed to make a qualified save. Youth Club's players were relieved. After some fancy dribbling in the 88th minute, Bryan Brotherton managed to get in a good position for a shot.
