The Badgen fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-0. When Carlos Slattery fell near the penalty area in the 7th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Badgen's protests and gave Carlos Slattery a yellow card for diving instead. In the 7th minute, Carlos Slattery hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 8th minute, Dan Bundy sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Badgen's Blake Ceney didn't even have to move. In the 9th match minute, Badgen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Eddy Holdsworth to maneuver through the defense. If Brian Flesfader had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 15 played minutes Island of Ferns got a freekick which was hit by Andre Atterton. 16 minutes into the match, Island of Ferns's goal looked a bit too open when Brian Flesfader came free, but Bartholemew Kennewell reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Blake Ceney took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eliot Rear, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Stew Dobbing fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Blake Ceney having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Stew Dobbing in the 22nd minute of play forced Badgen's goalkeeper Blake Ceney to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Island of Ferns's Stew Dobbing in the 23rd minute got a chance for a shot 23rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Badgen's goalie prevented a goal. When the match clock showed 23 minutes, the score became 1-1 when Stew Dobbing sped through Badgen's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Blake Ceney. Arthur Egel charged in rather forcefully in the 26th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Arthur Egel the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After 26 played minutes Badgen got a freekick which was hit by Arthur Egel. Bartholemew Kennewell made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Brian Flesfader in the 28th minute of play. Eliot Rear fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 30th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Blake Ceney having to interfere. In the 41st minute Eliot Rear shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Blake Ceney saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 42 minutes, Bryanne Beverley mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Badgen and the Island of Ferns players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 42 played minutes Badgen got a freekick which was hit by Bryanne Beverley. When Stew Dobbing came up free with the goalie in the 45th minute, the Island of Ferns fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Stew Dobbing couldn't finish the play.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Eliot Rear was the one to do the kick off. The Badgen fans' excitement grew in the 53rd match minute when Badgen's Bryanne Beverley looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. When the match clock showed 58 minutes, the score became 3-1 when Brian Flesfader sped through Island of Ferns's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Bartholemew Kennewell. In the 67thth minute of the game Brian Flesfader who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Island of Ferns's Bartholemew Kennewell was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Brian Flesfader sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Stew Dobbing sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Blake Ceney made a fantastic save in the 82nd minute, when Stew Dobbing sent off a good shot on target. Island of Ferns's Bartholemew Kennewell played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Brian Flesfader in the 83rd minute of play. Bartholemew Kennewell showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Brian Flesfader, who was totally free with the ball in the 85th minute. In the 88th minute Brian Flesfader shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Bartholemew Kennewell saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpected shot in the 90th minute by Eliot Rear got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Nelson Mundine sent away a hard shot on goal in the 99th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Badgen fans cheered their team off the field, for while Island of Ferns had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
