Fabian Deal fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ray Crawford having to interfere. 13 minutes into the game, Leith's Iggy Beattie nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Ray Crawford made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. In the 18th match minute, Leith was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Clifford Odd to maneuver through the defense. 20 minutes into the match, Mongogarie's goal looked a bit too open when Fabian Deal came free, but Ray Crawford reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 24 minutes into the match, Leith's goal looked a bit too open when Ray Leyden came free, but Browne Eastman reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Mongogarie getting a freekick after 29 minutes play. Ray Leyden hit a great ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Iggy Beattie in the 33rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ray Crawford prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Leith's Browne Eastman proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 34th minute of the match, managed to save Leith from getting a goal against them. Browne Eastman made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ray Leyden in the 37th minute of play. If Fabian Deal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 38th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 47thth minute of the game Fabian Deal who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Mongogarie's Ray Crawford was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Fabian Deal made a kick off. If Fabian Deal had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 54 minutes, Lauder Brooks mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Leith and the Mongogarie players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 54th minute, Lauder Brooks hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Mongogarie's zone, Iggy Beattie stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ray Crawford came out of the goal and Iggy Beattie tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Ray Leyden sent away a hard shot on goal in the 63rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Andy Carragher sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Browne Eastman showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ray Leyden, who was totally free with the ball in the 73rd minute. Browne Eastman came out of the goal in the 74th minute to try and stop a shot by Mongogarie's Andy Carragher. But to his dismay, Andy Carragher quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. Mongogarie's Ray Crawford proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 88th minute of the match, managed to save Mongogarie from getting a goal against them. In the 88th minute, Iggy Beattie reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Ray Crawford. The goal made the score 1-2. The Leith players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
