Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Aaron Byrnes got the match started through his kick off. In the 3rd minute Aaron Byrnes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Otto Durbridge saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 5 played minutes Taurunum got a freekick which was hit by Rodney Busst. Edwin Mewburn sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ozzie Barclay made a fantastic save in the 13th minute, when Kirby Feutrill sent off a good shot on target. When Melbourne Glory's John Notley in the 14th minute got a chance for a shot 14th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Taurunum's goalie prevented a goal. In the 15th minute, Nelson Houldsworth hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Melbourne Glory's Edwin Mewburn got a good chance for a goal in the 18th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 24 minutes into the match, Taurunum's goalkeeper Ozzie Barclay had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Edwin Mewburn. John Notley blasted a shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ozzie Barclay having to make a save. In the 25th minute, Taurunum's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after John Notley fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling John Notley in the 27th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Ozzie Barclay prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After having played for 35 minutes, John Notley managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Melbourne Glory's supporters crossed their fingers, but John Notley was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Melbourne Glory's Edwin Mewburn managed to work through Taurunum's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Edwin Mewburn dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. If Edwin Mewburn had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

In the 51st match minute, Taurunum was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Brooks Mcwilliam to maneuver through the defense. In the 52ndth minute of the game Edwin Mewburn who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Taurunum's Ozzie Barclay was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. John Notley received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 55th minute. Ozzie Barclay tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Edwin Mewburn fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 57th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ozzie Barclay having to interfere. Edwin Mewburn received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 59th minute. Ozzie Barclay tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After having played for 62 minutes, John Notley managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Taurunum's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that John Notley was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 3-0. When Melbourne Glory's Edwin Mewburn in the 83rd minute got a chance for a shot 83rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Taurunum's goalie prevented a goal. When Edmonds Paynter fell near the penalty area in the 84th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Taurunum's protests and gave Edmonds Paynter a yellow card for diving instead. Edmonds Paynter hit a great freekick 84 minutes into the match. After recieving a nice pass, Melbourne Glory's Sam Clubley tried to score from far away in the 85th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. 89 minutes into the match, Taurunum's goal looked a bit too open when John Notley came free, but Ozzie Barclay reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Edwin Mewburn sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Melbourne Glory's Edwin Mewburn got a good chance for a goal in the 96th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Melbourne Glory fully deserved thier win.
