After 12 played minutes Melbourne Glory got a freekick which was hit by Navarro Monck. After some fancy dribbling in the 14th minute, Bruce Convine managed to get in a good position for a shot. Guilford's supporters rose to their feet, but Bruce Convine was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Otto Durbridge breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Edwin Mewburn blasted a shot towards the goal in the 17th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ren Didlock having to make a save. Otto Durbridge made an important save on a dangerous shot by Bruce Convine in the 20th minute. Ren Didlock didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Melbourne Glory. With his leg Ren Didlock managed to avoid a goal in the 64thth minute, when Melbourne Glory's Edwin Mewburn fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 68thth minute of the game John Notley who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Guilford's Ren Didlock was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When Brice Arkinstall fell near the penalty area in the 71st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Melbourne Glory's protests and gave Brice Arkinstall a yellow card for diving instead. Brice Arkinstall hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. After having played for 79 minutes, Bruce Convine managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Guilford's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bruce Convine was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. John Notley blasted a shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Ren Didlock having to make a save. Edwin Mewburn sent away a hard shot on goal in the 87th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. John Notley fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 89th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ren Didlock having to interfere. In the 92nd minute John Notley shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ren Didlock saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 98 minutes into the match, Melbourne Glory's John Notley sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Ren Didlock narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Melbourne Glory played a much better game than Guilford and deserved their victory. The Guilford players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
