The supporters of Hindmarsh booed when Altona A.F.C was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 29 match minutes in a wonderful position. Henry Fitzpatrick didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 30thth minute of the game Andy Starling who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Altona A.F.C's Aaron Howarth was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 33rd minute, Hindmarsh's Andy Starling ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Aaron Howarth. Aaron Howarth yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. 38 minutes into the match, Andy Starling had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Aaron Howarth. Altona A.F.C's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Andy Starling was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. Andy Starling received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 41st minute. Aaron Howarth tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 43rd minute, Gregory Winkless managed to get in a good position for a shot. Hindmarsh's supporters rose to their feet, but Gregory Winkless was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Aaron Howarth breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After having played for 45 minutes, Andy Starling managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Hindmarsh's supporters crossed their fingers, but Andy Starling was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Andy Starling in the 47th minute of play forced Altona A.F.C's goalkeeper Aaron Howarth to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the match had gone on for 54 minutes, Gregory Winkless put it in 3-0 from a short distance just to the right of Aaron Howarth. An unexpectedly hard shot by Andy Starling in the 66th minute of play forced Altona A.F.C's goalkeeper Aaron Howarth to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Aaron Howarth prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 70 played minutes Altona A.F.C got a freekick which was hit by Andy Bromfield. Hindmarsh's Andy Starling got a good chance for a goal in the 71st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Gregory Winkless sent away a hard shot on goal in the 73rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Hindmarsh's Andy Starling in the 74th minute got a chance for a shot 74th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. If Gregory Winkless had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 85 minutes into the game, Andy Starling cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 5-0. Aaron Howarth was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Aaron Howarth showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gregory Winkless, who was totally free with the ball in the 90th minute.
