Spectators: 6782 (Terracing: 5000, Seating: 1782, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Randle Diehl started the match with the kick off. Crawford Kiel made a fantastic save in the 6th minute, when Carter Ridding sent off a good shot on target. The crowd rose to their feet as Hatherleigh's Eddy Christina slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Crawford Kiel. That made the score 1-0 after 8 minutes of play. Randle Diehl sent away a hard shot on goal in the 15th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Hatherleigh's Eddy Christina in the 24th minute got a chance for a shot 24th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Melbourne City's goalie prevented a goal. Crawford Kiel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Eddy Christina in the 26th minute of play. If Eddy Christina had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Crawford Kiel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eddy Christina, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Dan Keato made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Randle Diehl in the 38th minute of play. 39 minutes into the game, Dan Mcroberts was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Melbourne City's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Hatherleigh the free kick. After 42 played minutes Hatherleigh got a freekick which was hit by Eddy Christina. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

In the 54th minute, Carter Ridding got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. When Carlisle Mcinnes came up free with the goalie in the 57th minute, the Melbourne City fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Carlisle Mcinnes couldn't finish the play. Hatherleigh's Eddy Christina got a good chance for a goal in the 60th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After having played for 62 minutes, Carlisle Mcinnes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Melbourne City's supporters crossed their fingers, but Carlisle Mcinnes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 67th minute, Eddy Christina got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Crawford Kiel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Carter Ridding, who was totally free with the ball in the 78th minute. Hatherleigh's Carter Ridding got a good chance for a goal in the 79th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Crawford Kiel didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Carter Ridding went, in the 80th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. Dan Keato was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Carlisle Mcinnes showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 2-1 in the 88 minute of play. Hatherleigh's Dan Keato played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Randle Diehl in the 97th minute of play. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Hatherleigh fans cheered their team off the field, for while Melbourne City had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
