Central City Stars's Rufus Leach shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 3rd minute of play. The shot was stopped by Cassidy Turnor but with some difficulty. Russell Byrnes's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 8thth minute, Cassidy Turnor skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Birrell Muncaster's late challenge caught a Central City Stars's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Birrell Muncaster helped the player get up and apologised. Birrell Muncaster hit a great freekick 13 minutes into the match. After 14 played minutes Central City Stars got a freekick which was hit by Jonathan Fulton. Motueka FC's Cassidy Turnor proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 17th minute of the match, managed to save Motueka FC from getting a goal against them. In the 20th match minute, Motueka FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Barnett Plank to maneuver through the defense. Barnett Plank sent away a hard shot on goal in the 28th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Central City Stars's Preston Monck played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Reese Mcmillan in the 37th minute of play. Boyce Grandison received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Cassidy Turnor tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cassidy Turnor was a little too slow when Dan Mcmillan got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 41st minute. The score was now 1-0. Barnett Plank struck a weak shot in the 44th minute. Preston Monck didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Motueka FC. Af the end of the first half the score was 1-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Boyce Grandison was the one to do the kick off. Motueka FC's Barnett Plank got a good chance for a goal in the 53rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Fletcher Blackham fell near the penalty area in the 57th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Motueka FC's protests and gave Fletcher Blackham a yellow card for diving instead. Fletcher Blackham hit a great freekick 57 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Central City Stars's Rufus Leach got a free kick in the 60th minute. Russell Byrnes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 63rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Cassidy Turnor having to interfere. After 65 played minutes Motueka FC got a freekick which was hit by Barth Mcinnis. Jarrod Block was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 66th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Preston Monck showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Barnett Plank, who was totally free with the ball in the 69th minute. After 73 minutes, Dan Mcmillan mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Central City Stars and the Motueka FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Central City Stars's Dan Mcmillan got a free kick in the 73rd minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Reese Mcmillan in the 75th minute of play forced Central City Stars's goalkeeper Preston Monck to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cassidy Turnor showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Russell Byrnes in the 77th minute of the match. Reese Mcmillan recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 79th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 85 minutes into the match, Motueka FC's goal looked a bit too open when Boyce Grandison came free, but Cassidy Turnor reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Motueka FC's Fletcher Blackham got his second yellow card of the match in the 86th minute. The referee ordered Fletcher Blackham off the ground. After a rather tough play, Motueka FC's Fletcher Blackham got a free kick in the 86th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Russell Byrnes in the 91st minute of play forced Motueka FC's goalkeeper Cassidy Turnor to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 92nd match minute, Motueka FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ernest Ryan to maneuver through the defense. Jarrod Block took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 93rd minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Cassidy Turnor. Motueka FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line.
