Wogarl's supporters crossed their fingers, but Paul Greenan was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When Barnabas Hayman fell near the penalty area in the 15th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Convicts's protests and gave Barnabas Hayman a yellow card for diving instead. In the 16th minute, Barnabas Hayman hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Wogarl's Abbott Bowen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Barnabas Hayman in the 20th minute of play. Abbott Bowen made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Barnabas Hayman in the 21st minute of play. Abbott Bowen took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Barnabas Hayman, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Barnabas Hayman had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 31st minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Byrne Beverley fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 40th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Elliott Baxter having to interfere. If Navin Magnay had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Byrne Beverley was the one to do the kick off. When Lawrance Addison came up free with the goalie in the 61st minute, the Wogarl fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Lawrance Addison couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Convicts booed when Wogarl was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lawrance Addison didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Case Cudmore fell near the penalty area in the 75th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. Navin Magnay received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 82nd minute. Abbott Bowen tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 87th minute the ball was on its way in behind Convicts's goalkeeper Elliott Baxter, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Elliott Baxter showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Byrne Beverley in the 94th minute of the match. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Convicts eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
