Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Elliott Turnbull started the match with the kick off. Jason Moon showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bryden Johnson, who was totally free with the ball in the 4th minute. The crowd rose to their feet as Buchanan's Bryden Johnson slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Jason Moon. That made the score 1-0 after 5 minutes of play. In the 11th minute Jess Kinnaird shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Duke Quinane saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Barnes Slattery during the 11th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 13th match minute, Buchanan was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nash Kile to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Latrobe booed when Buchanan was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 14 match minutes in a wonderful position. Belton Hopkins didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 17 minutes, Tom Holdsworth managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Buchanan's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tom Holdsworth was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Duke Quinane showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Patrick Didlock in the 22nd minute of the match. Buchanan's Duke Quinane played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Elliott Turnbull in the 25th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Jess Kinnaird in the 26th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Duke Quinane saved Buchanan from getting behind. Duke Quinane made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jess Kinnaird in the 31st minute of play. Elliott Turnbull received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 32nd minute. Duke Quinane tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jess Kinnaird struck a weak shot in the 34th minute. Duke Quinane didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Latrobe. Duke Quinane took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Elliott Turnbull, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Patrick Didlock recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 43rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Elliott Turnbull's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Duke Quinane read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 45th minute of play. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

In the 52nd minute Tom Holdsworth shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jason Moon saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 53 minutes into the match, Latrobe's goal looked a bit too open when Bryden Johnson came free, but Jason Moon reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Tom Holdsworth fell near the penalty area in the 56th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Buchanan's protests and gave Tom Holdsworth a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Buchanan getting a freekick after 57 minutes play. Tom Holdsworth hit a great ball. Buchanan's Duke Quinane played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Elliott Turnbull in the 58th minute of play. Duke Quinane took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Elliott Turnbull, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Barnes Slattery hit a great freekick 61 minutes into the match. Latrobe's Rusty Petersen shoveled away a really nice long shot in the 62nd minute of play. The shot was stopped by Duke Quinane but with some difficulty. Tom Holdsworth kicked well hit freekick during the 71st minute of the match. Duke Quinane made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jess Kinnaird in the 73rd minute. Buchanan's Duke Quinane proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 75th minute of the match, managed to save Buchanan from getting a goal against them. Jess Kinnaird succeeded in the game's 76th minute to shoot an unreachable shot under the crossbar and scored - 1-2. Elliott Turnbull did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 1-3 to the left of a surprised Duke Quinane 79 minutes into the match. Jess Kinnaird's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 87thth minute, Duke Quinane skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 89th minute Elliott Turnbull shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Duke Quinane saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Patrick Didlock came free with the goalkeeper in the 93rd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Duke Quinane could save by the left post. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jess Kinnaird got free with Duke Quinane in the 95th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 96th minute Elliott Turnbull shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Duke Quinane saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When the match was over Latrobe could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Buchanan throughout the match.
