After 12 played minutes, Lawnswood's Drew Argoud shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Duke Quinane came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Lawnswood reached it. In the 17th minute Christopher Barker clashed with another player. He fell to the ground and was in great pain. It was obvious that he couldn't finish the game. After 17 minutes, Clarke Babbage mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Buchanan and the Lawnswood players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to Buchanan getting a freekick after 18 minutes play. Clarke Babbage hit a great ball. Bryan Orvad charged in rather forcefully in the 23rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Bryan Orvad the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. 25 minutes in the game Barnes Eicke got a great opportunity which he missed by shooting outside the goal. After having played for 31 minutes, Tom Holdsworth managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Buchanan's supporters crossed their fingers, but Tom Holdsworth was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. 33 minutes into the match, Buchanan's Bryden Johnson sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Dan Hunter narrowly saved just below the crossbar. After having played for 36 minutes, Bryden Johnson managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Buchanan's supporters crossed their fingers, but Bryden Johnson was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Tom Holdsworth sent away a hard shot on goal in the 43rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Bryden Johnson was the one to do the kick off. Fleming Willis charged in rather forcefully in the 56th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. Belton Hopkins recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 74th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 75th minute, Lawnswood's goalie took a deep sigh of relief after Bryden Johnson fired away a hard shot that went just outside the left post. In the 81st minute of the match Myles Dollamore shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Dan Hunter showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. The supporters of Buchanan booed when Lawnswood was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 93 match minutes in a wonderful position. Berny Hollingworth didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 96th match minute, Buchanan was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Belton Hopkins to maneuver through the defense. Buchanan's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
