Ernest Pegrum showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dale Mewburn, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. After the first half Kamikazes were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Barth Cootes to make the kick off. Andy Clarke fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 51st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ernest Pegrum having to interfere. In the 53rd minute, Tobie Clinton hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 55th minute, Bud Dobson hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Bud Dobson recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 75th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Wodonga United's Berkeley Loch got a good chance for a goal in the 77th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Loud Chant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Barth Cootes, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. Loud Chant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Berkeley Loch in the 88th minute of play. When Barth Cootes came up free with the goalie in the 94th minute, the Wodonga United fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Barth Cootes couldn't finish the play.
