Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Benny Veitch got the match started through his kick off. Marcus Keam came out of the goal in the 3rd minute to try and stop a shot by Ootha's Benny Veitch. But to his dismay, Benny Veitch quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. John Leyden scored 0-2 in the 7th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Marcus Keam, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Benny Veitch sent away a hard shot on goal in the 12th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Albert Blattman fell near the penalty area in the 13th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Edgecombe's protests and gave Albert Blattman a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Edgecombe getting a freekick after 14 minutes play. Albert Blattman hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 18th minute, Ellis Bonham managed to get in a good position for a shot. Edgecombe's supporters rose to their feet, but Ellis Bonham was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Duncan Alcock breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Duncan Alcock took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rusty Mcjenkins, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Rusty Mcjenkins fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 22nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Duncan Alcock having to interfere. Ellis Bonham sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Rusty Mcjenkins had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 26th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Edgecombe's Marcus Keam played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Benny Veitch in the 29th minute of play. Ellis Bonhams short, quick shot in the 37thth minute got Duncan Alcock to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. In the 46th minute, Albert Blattman hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Ellis Bonham to make the kick off. When Benny Veitch came up free with the goalie in the 56th minute, the Ootha fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Benny Veitch couldn't finish the play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Ellis Bonham in the 63rd minute of play forced Ootha's goalkeeper Duncan Alcock to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When Ellis Bonham came up free with the goalie in the 67th minute, the Edgecombe fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ellis Bonham couldn't finish the play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Benny Veitch in the 71st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Marcus Keam prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Craig Mccartan fell near the penalty area in the 72nd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Edgecombe's protests and gave Craig Mccartan a yellow card for diving instead. In the 72nd minute, Craig Mccartan hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Edgecombe getting a freekick after 74 minutes play. Herbert Dillon hit a great ball. If Ellis Bonham had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 81st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 84thth minute of the game Benny Veitch who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Edgecombe's Marcus Keam was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Benny Veitch received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Marcus Keam tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ellis Bonham fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Duncan Alcock having to interfere. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Ootha had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
