The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. 3 minutes into the match, Gold Coast FC's Damian Dowsing broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Damon Peplow sent away a hard shot on goal in the 9th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. With an all-out effort, Gold Coast FC's Payton Dalglish threw himself towards the right post 13 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Damon Peplow, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 14th minute, Gold Coast FC's Damon Peplow dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-0. Edmund Hodson struck a weak shot in the 21st minute. Payton Dalglish didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Gold Coast FC. Edmund Hodson could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 24th minute of the match, but Payton Dalglish made a huge save. Berny Atkin hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. 32 minutes into the match, Calleen's goal looked a bit too open when Damon Peplow came free, but Payton Dalglish reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Jason Staggard came free in the 34th minute and tried to tip the ball over Murphey Mcroberts, but to the joy of Gold Coast FC's supporters the ball went over. Damian Dowsing kicked well hit freekick during the 36th minute of the match. In the 39th minute, Damon Peplow reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Payton Dalglish. The goal made the score 2-0. If Edmund Hodson had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jonty Blestowe kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. When Edmund Hodson came up free with the goalie in the 46th minute, the Gold Coast FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Edmund Hodson couldn't finish the play.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jason Staggard to make the kick off. Edmund Hodson sent away a hard shot on goal in the 55th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Payton Dalglish took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edmund Hodson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Payton Dalglish made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Damon Peplow in the 68th minute of play. Payton Dalglish showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edmund Hodson in the 70th minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Damon Peplow in the 73rd minute of play forced Calleen's goalkeeper Payton Dalglish to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 75thth minute of the game Damon Peplow who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Calleen's Payton Dalglish was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Calleen's Payton Dalglish played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edmund Hodson in the 86th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Damon Peplow in the 88th minute of play forced Calleen's goalkeeper Payton Dalglish to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Calleen's Payton Dalglish played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Damon Peplow in the 91st minute of play.
