Spectators: 7949 (Terracing: 6007, Seating: 1841, VIP seats: 101) Knights Templar's Jake Locke started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 7th minute Edmund Hodson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Fabrizio Atterton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. David Worrall charged in rather forcefully in the 8th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed David Worrall the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. The Gold Coast FC fans' excitement grew in the 10th match minute when Gold Coast FC's Damon Peplow looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 0-1 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. After some careless play in the Knights Templar defense, Damon Peplow kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Fabrizio Atterton. The Knights Templar fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Fabrizio Atterton should have stopped the shot. Murphey Mcroberts showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jake Locke in the 18th minute of the match. The supporters of Gold Coast FC booed when Knights Templar was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 20 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fabian Coburn didn't get a good kick on the ball. After recieving a nice pass, Gold Coast FC's Damian Dowsing tried to score from far away in the 20th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. The audience was convinced that Damon Peplow's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Fabrizio Atterton was relentless in the 23rd minute of the game. Jake Locke received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Murphey Mcroberts tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Fabrizio Atterton showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Edmund Hodson in the 38th minute of the match. 47 minutes into the game, Edward Thorne was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Knights Templar's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Gold Coast FC the free kick. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Damon Peplow made a kick off. Damon Peplow was extremely unlucky when he, in the 55th minute, took a shot that hit the right post and went out. Fabrizio Atterton didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Edmund Hodson went, in the 57th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-5 was the resulting score. Fabrizio Atterton came out of the goal in the 67th minute to try and stop a shot by Gold Coast FC's Damon Peplow. But to his dismay, Damon Peplow quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-7. An unexpectedly hard shot by Damon Peplow in the 70th minute of play forced Knights Templar's goalkeeper Fabrizio Atterton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Murphey Mcroberts showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jake Locke, who was totally free with the ball in the 86th minute. In the 90th minute Buchanan Quinn suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. Gold Coast FC made a substitution. Carmichael Nurthen replaced Buchanan Quinn. David Worrall hit a great freekick 92 minutes into the match. Gold Coast FC were awarded a corner in the 94th minute after Knights Templar's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Damian Dowsing took the corner. At last the ball reached Edmund Hodson at the corner, ending with a kick to difficult to stop for the goalkeeper of Knights Templar. 0-8. When the match was over Gold Coast FC could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Knights Templar throughout the match.
