After 4 minutes of play, Reds's Danny Hamilton made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Nash Watson was left in no man's land by his defense there! Nash Watson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Rudolph Sedgman in the 7th minute of the match. When Danny Hamilton came up free with the goalie in the 21st minute, the Reds fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Danny Hamilton couldn't finish the play. 24 minutes into the match, Auckland FC's goal looked a bit too open when Danny Hamilton came free, but Nash Watson reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Berry Pustak came up free with the goalie in the 26th minute, the Auckland FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Berry Pustak couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Auckland FC booed when Reds was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 32 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rudolph Sedgman didn't get a good kick on the ball. Everyone was convinced a goal was close when Auckland FC's Peter Orr in the 38th minute lifted the ball towards the upper right corner, but Philip Waller was perfectly placed and prevented a goal for Reds through an amazing save. If Berry Pustak had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Philip Waller took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Peter Orr, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nash Watson showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Danny Hamilton in the 43rd minute of the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rudolph Sedgman in the 45th minute of play forced Auckland FC's goalkeeper Nash Watson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Auckland FC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Reds were winning 0-2.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Rudolph Sedgman to strike the kick off in the second half. Auckland FC's Nash Watson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rudolph Sedgman in the 55th minute of play. Nash Watson stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Rudolph Sedgman's shot from short distance in the 59th minute. After having played for 65 minutes, Rudolph Sedgman managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Reds's supporters crossed their fingers, but Rudolph Sedgman was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Peter Orr in the 69th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Philip Waller prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 72nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Reds's goalkeeper Philip Waller, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Philip Waller made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Berry Pustak in the 74th minute of play. When Murphey Vaughan fell near the penalty area in the 76th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Reds's protests and gave Murphey Vaughan a yellow card for diving instead. 75 minutes into the game, one of Reds:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Danny Hamilton blasted a shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Nash Watson having to make a save. 85 minutes into the game, Brendan Krause was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Auckland FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Reds the free kick. The supporters of Reds booed when Auckland FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 85 match minutes in a wonderful position. Brendan Krause didn't get a good kick on the ball. Nash Watson was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 86th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Jordon Limmer. Murphey Vaughan took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 88th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Nash Watson. Auckland FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Berry Pustak sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The Auckland FC supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Reds's performance. The match ended with a win for Reds.
