Kane Bailey might have been able to make a better finish in the 36th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Edgar Coldicutt. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Kane Bailey ran back to his position shaking his head. In the 36th minute, Hank Bromfield ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Edgar Coldicutt was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-0. In the 40th minute, Kane Bailey reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Edgar Coldicutt. The goal made the score 4-0. Edgar Coldicutt made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Kane Bailey in the 45th minute of play. Edgar Coldicutt showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Kane Bailey in the 47th minute of the match. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 4-0 at half-time.

52 minutes into the match, Gold Coast City FC's goal looked a bit too open when Kane Bailey came free, but Edgar Coldicutt reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Cliff Carberry kicked well hit freekick during the 60th minute of the match. Edgar Coldicutt was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Rod Goodbun took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Paz Coote, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Hank Bromfield received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Edgar Coldicutt tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Haddon's Brock Cawthorne got a free kick in the 93rd minute. In the 95th minute, Donovan Fraser fired a really elegant long shot, but Rod Goodbun threw himself and managed to get hold of the ball just in front of the right post. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Haddon fans cheered their team off the field, for while Gold Coast City FC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
