Excelsior United's Case Collings got a good chance for a goal in the 18th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Norm Facey recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 23rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 26th minute the ball was on its way in behind Excelsior United's goalkeeper Carl Warren, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bryanne Czaczka in the 28th minute of play forced Excelsior United's goalkeeper Carl Warren to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Justin Mills in the 31st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Carl Warren prevented the ball from getting in the gole. The audience thought a goal was coming when Stewart Curtis got free with Carl Warren in the 54th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Bryanne Czaczka's late challenge caught a Excelsior United's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Bryanne Czaczka helped the player get up and apologised. Bryanne Czaczka hit a great freekick 61 minutes into the match. In the 65th minute, Justin Mills ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Carl Warren was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Stewart Curtis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 72nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Carl Warren having to interfere. Myles Babbage sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Bran Spurr took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Myles Babbage, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Bryanne Czaczka got his second yellow card in the match during the 79th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. 81 minutes into the match, Norm Facey notched a goal, 1-1, to the right of Wellard's Bran Spurr. Bran Spurr was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Fleming Mapps received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Carl Warren tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Stewart Curtis's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 89thth minute, Carl Warren skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. 90 minutes in the game, Stewart Curtis fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Carl Warren having to interfere. Fleming Mapps received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Carl Warren came out and tried to block the shot, but Fleming Mapps slotted it home off the left post making it 1-2 in the 92nd minute. Stewart Curtis struck a weak shot in the 96th minute. Carl Warren didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Wellard. Wellard played a much better game than Excelsior United and deserved their victory. The Excelsior United players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
